The Agency for Cultural Affairs certifies as “Japan Heritage” sites stories that tell Japanese culture and tradition through historical appeal or distinctiveness, and supports efforts to use tangible and intangible cultural properties indispensable to telling these stories in a way that is comprehensive.

About Use of the Japan Heritage Logo
The Japan Heritage logo may be used free of charge only when used to spread awareness, publicize, or promote understanding of the story of the “Western Capital of Ancient Japan” Heritage site.
However, in certain cases documents may need to be submitted in advance, some usages are prohibited. Always be sure to check the latest information.

(1) Submission is not required for:
- Newspapers, TV, magazines, and other media organizations
- Certified Japan Heritage applicants
- Councils and constituent organizations receiving subsidies for projects promoting Japanese heritage sites

(2) Submission is required for:
- Owners and managers of the constituent cultural properties as well as organizations, businesses, and individuals in the story area
- Others deemed necessary by the Council

How to Submit

(1) When the purpose of use spans multiple cities and towns, such as a wider-area event
Please inquire with the “Western Capital” Japan Heritage Revitalization Council (Secretariat: Cultural Asset Conservation Section, Fukuoka Prefecture).

(2) When the purpose of use is limited to a single city or town, such as a regional event.
